Nicola Martin

Nichola Martin is an award winning artist graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 2007. Whilst at art school Nichola was awarded the John Kinross Scholarship which enabled her to study in the city of Florence, Italy and also won the Scottish Further Education Unit Prize both awarded by the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh. Most recently Nichola has been awarded Artist in Residence for StAnza 2019, (Scotlands International Poetry Festival) for her depiction of books.

A skilled draughtsman she prefers to work in charcoal and oils and is highly sought after for paintings requiring a high level of technical detail, including a commission for British author John Le Carre of all his published books.

Since graduating Nichola has exhibited widely throughout the UK and has numerous works in private collections internationally. As well as working on her own drawings and paintings Nichola holds various workshops and classes throughout the year. From teaching the fundamental importance of drawing with the use of charcoal Nichola also teaches oil painting from beginner to advanced.
