Originals
We have been privileged to have shown the work of John Bell for almost 30 years as he has developed into arguably one of the most distinctive and recognisable landscape artists working in Scotland. This collection of 18 outstanding works represents the artist’s recent travels throughout Scotland, revisiting many of his favoured walking locations in Perthshire and the Highlands.
Born in 1972 in Broughty Ferry and educated at Grove Academy, John studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (1989-93) and now lives in rural Perthshire.
Drawn to subjects that have elements of age and a past life, John’s dynamic compositions highlight the glorious isolation of the location, and often feature the buildings and ruins that lend such character to much of the Scottish landscape. His technique marries traditional and contemporary styles, contrasting finely detailed observation against simplified backdrops to capture the stillness and mood of his subjects.
