Gwen Adair

Gwen Adair is a visual artist who grew up in Fife, she studied at The Glasgow School of Art and now paints and teaches in Dumfriesshire.
Portraying a mixture of landscape , birds and portraiture, Gwen completes figurative paintings whenever she can. She’s fascinated by the way the disposition of figures can create a story in the mind of the viewer.

Working quickly in an “alla prima” fashion Gwen strives to create a certain spontaneity in her work, she uses square brushes and knives to build a textured surface which allows the paint to sing.

She was a shortlisted artist in the 2018 Scottish Portrait Awards. She has shown her work across the UK and developed an impressive following.
