Fiona Sturrock

Fiona was born and raised in Fife. She grew up in a creative family with exposure to art and music as a normal part of being. Although these things were inherent to her life and her identity, she chose a different career path and has worked as a Clinical Psychologist since leaving Edinburgh University with her Doctorate degree in 2006.

Working mainly in acrylics, Fiona has an interest in the old and new, the past and the present, and how these function together within the same space. She is drawn to objects with a history and a story. Old vases and jugs hold the vibrant newness and natural simplicity of the flowers that she favours in her paintings. Fiona paints from a mixture of life scenes, photographs and her imagination.

Influenced by the works of the Colourists and Impressionists, and is hugely inspired by the wealth and richness of contemporary Scottish art.

Fiona’s work is exhibited by a number of Scottish galleries and is held in private collections in the UK and overseas
