Blythe Scott
Blythe Scott was born in 1969 in Glasgow, Scotland, to a father who studied Drawing & Painting and a mother who studied Textiles at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art. Following in their footsteps, Blythe also attended GSA where she graduated with an honours degree in EWT in 1991. She then went on to achieve a post graduate diploma with distinction in Art & Design Education from Strathclyde University.
Since then, she has travelled to and lived in various cities around the world and has worked as a decorative artist in Paris, gallery assistant in Canada and a passionate teacher of adults and children as far away as Tokyo.
Today, her time is entirely devoted to producing mixed media art, intended to uplift, delight and intrigue. Having been equally exposed to the worlds of Art & Design when growing up, her approach seems to bridge both camps. She uses acrylics, mixed media, collage and metal leaf to create unique surfaces and artworks that are mainly inspired by Scotland’s cities, coastline and countryside.
In 2024, Blythe decided to return to her native Scotland where she now works from her studio in Melrose in the beautiful Scottish Borders.
