Nicola McBride | Penning Nostalgia – Memories of a Dundee childhood
Eduardo Alessandro studios was delighted to host an exhibition of original artworks by Scottish artist Nicola McBride on 5th- 26th March 2022. Featuring a stunning collection of mixed media paintings created using mainly biro pen and inspired by Nicola’s childhood experiences and memories spent with her grandmother in Dundee.
Nicola was born in Dundee and graduated from Grays School of Art in 1997. She has exhibited in galleries across the UK and France and is now the Head of the Art Department at Perth High School.
Nicola uses BIC crystal ballpoint pens, and a meticulous approach to drawing to layer colour and tones. Working on antique ordnance maps, old recycled envelops and other vintage papers she creates extraordinary portraits of familiar everyday objects, inspired by her memories of growing up in Dundee.
On herself: ‘I hope that my artwork does credit to the stories told by my Dundonian Grandmother which are a continuing inspiration to me.’
