Douglas Roulston | The Spring Collection
Eduardo Alessandro Studios was delighted to host an exhibition of original paintings by Scottish landscape artist Douglas Roulston on 2nd- 30th April 2022. Inspired by 19th Century Romantic movement, Douglas’ work delicately balances Contemporary realism with an ethereal romanticism which results in being both fanciful yet effectively captures the mood and atmosphere of the Scottish landscape.
Douglas was born in Glasgow in 1984 and spent his formative years travelling around Scotland, developing a deep-rooted understanding of its history and place. He gained a BA (Hons) followed by a Master of Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2008, then a PDGE in Art and Design in 2013. He continues to work as an Art and Design teacher in Scotland alongside his growing reputation and commercial success as an exhibiting artist.
A keen walker and mountain biker, Douglas often makes arduous journeys to spectacular and remote locations where he finds much of the inspiration for his paintings. The direct correlation between the endeavour required to reach these locations and translating to canvas, gives his work a sense of place and familiarity to all who have been there or wish they had.
Douglas exhibits throughout Scotland where his work has gained a wide following.
