John Bell feature Exhibition  ‘NC500’

This month we are thrilled to be hosting a solo feature from John Bell, featuring works from iconic scenes around the ever-popular NC500.

John is regarded as one of Scotland’s most distinctive and collectible contemporary landscape painters. With striking compositions that demonstrate extraordinary attention to detail and a dramatic use of light and colour, his work is instantly recognisable.

This collection encompasses the type of scenes that John has become known and loved for, including remote and isolated Scottish locations, old stonework, and abandoned boats, all in his trademark style.

This feature exhibition is packed with iconic Scottish road trip scenes, including Plockton vistas, dusk over Loch Broom in Ullapool, and Lewis and Harris from Stoer Lighthouse. The beauty of this part of the world is shown in full effect, and there’s even a cameo from a Highland coo or two!

John Bell

Born 1972 in Dundee, John lives in rural Perthshire, and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (1989-93). His work is widely collected, and he is regarded as one of Scotland’s most distinctive and collectable contemporary landscape painters.

His striking compositions demonstrate an extraordinary attention to detail and dramatic use of light and colour, making his work instantly recognisable. Often drawn to remote and isolated Scottish locations, old stonework, abandoned boats and subjects of great character and age, John’s work blends a freshness of approach with traditional technique in a way unmatched by his contemporaries.

John has exhibited widely since the early 1990s, and his work can be found in corporate and private collections worldwide.
