“Mark’s animal sculptures, evoke strength and masculinity, but the work also hints at delicacy and vulnerability, a dichotomy present in all life, including ours. In sculpting animals the human condition can also be examined.”
Born in 1967, Mark is a multi-disciplined artist who works from a studio in Carlisle, Cumbria where he continues a lifelong interest and commitment to producing visual art. “Painting or sculpting as a professional practice isn’t merely earning a living; it’s an attitude, recognising the importance of creativity and, at the risk of sounding pretentious, a commitment to philosophical inquiry carried out with materials rather than words.”
His work is in private and corporate collections in the UK and abroad.
