Many different elements have informed the evolution of Keith’s much admired and highly recognisable style. It was the Northumberland countryside; his love of the outdoors combined with an interest in natural history to encourage him to draw and paint his local river.
Then as time passed, he moved on to birds, animals, town scenes of Newcastle Upon Tyne but it’s his remarkable figurative work that features in his recent collections.
Many of his recent works are inspired by his youngest son Jack, and being a father to four boys has given him a unique insight into the subject of childhood! He loves the fact that children are so natural and instinctive and the way that their behaviour is spontaneous and from the heart.
