James Lindsay_The Village Square, St. Guilhelm (Herault )_Oils_20x20

James was born in Scone, Perthshire in 1954, grew up in Lanark and studied at Glasgow School of Art. He chose a career in advertising and design and spent 26 years in the industry.

At every opportunity, James endeavours to capture his chosen subject ‘plein air’, be it in the peaceful hills of a Greek island, the light and colour of southern France or here at home in a city square or coastal village.

Since deciding to paint full time on 2009, he has established a studio and workshop in Lanark, and a base near Beziers in the Languedoc, southern France, where he is inspired by the light and colour of the region.
