Born in Dundee, 1962. Alister studied drawing & painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee between 1979 and 1983. He was awarded the Ian Eaddie Prize for landscape painting in 1983, the same year he joined the Dundee Printmakers Workshop where he further developed his etching and printmaking skills. After a period working as a botanical illustrator at Dundee University, Alister returned to painting full time.
Drawing influence from the Dutch and Flemish schools, and several contemporary Scottish painters, Alister is renowned for his exquisitely detailed oil paintings of representational and surreal landscape and cityscape compositions.
Alister has exhibited with Eduardo Alessandro Studios since 1982 and has work in several private and corporate collections.
