Alex began his career as a freelance illustrator producing book cover art for a variety of publishers, and he subsequently worked with a prominent illustration agency creating surreal photorealistic imagery. Eventually he moved on to pursue other interests, and for many years painted only occasionally. It was through the ongoing treatment of a close family member with a life-threatening condition that Alex reconnected with his passion for art and discovered an affinity with observational painting. He relishes the challenges of working from life, and the creative aspects of taking this approach to contemporary realism.
Alex’s paintings have been shown in prestigious juried exhibitions, and his commissioned work displays high quality craftsmanship across a broad diversity of genres.
